Mineral Titles

A key role of the Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) is to provide an efficient and timely mining title approvals process, which is essential for guaranteeing the sustainability of the resources sector and the State’s future prosperity. All exploration and mining titles in Western Australia are administered in accordance with the Mining Act 1978. The types of mining titles include prospecting licences, exploration, retention and miscellaneous licences, and mining and general purpose leases.

The Mineral Titles Division is responsible for the administration of these mining titles and maintenance of title registry systems (Mineral Titles Online and Tengraph®), that provide current information on land availability and details on mining tenements in Western Australia.

Products and services provided by the Mineral Titles Division include advice on land access matters, land availability, processing and determination of mining title applications, maintenance of the title registry system and administration of statutory requirements of tenement holders.

* Mining Act fees and charges can now be made at the customer service counter Perth or any of the regional offices by EFTPOS or credit card (up to $25,000) using Visa or MasterCard. If the credit card transaction limit of $25,000 is exceeded, the transaction will be rejected. *
