Western Australia is a popular destination for geoscience research due to the broad range of interesting geological features that have been discovered. The information and links below provide information to assist geologists and researchers understand the State and Federal legislation that now governs issues such as land access, and the collection and export of materials.

Visitors to State Geoheritage Reserves:


a) students examining the Buick State Geoheritage Reserve on a university field trip


b) filming for a television documentary on early life at the Trendall State Geoheritage Reserve.

 

Damage at the Buick State Geoheritage Reserve in the Dresser Formation, probably the oldest fossil evidence of life on Earth:


a) the removal of blocks of sandstone beneath a stromatolite mat


b) removal of a large piece of stratiform stromatolite mat.
