Introducing the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety
On 1 July 2017 as part of the State Government's public sector reforms, the departments of Mines and Petroleum and Commerce will amalgamate to form the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety. These structural changes are aimed at creating collaborative departments focused on whole-of-government objectives and delivering services in a more efficient and effective way. Introducing Towards 2020 Regulatory strategy for Resources Safety
Towards 2020 is the Department’s regulatory strategy covering all legislation administered by the Resources Safety Division.

Revised schedule of fees and charges
As of 1 July 2017, the Resources Safety schedule of fees and charges has been updated.
Fees and charges highlighted with an asterisk (*) include GST. All others are GST exempt (refer to the Resources Safety schedule of fees and charges website).
Where a grace period relates to a licence for a major hazards facility, the provisions of regulation 34 of the Dangerous Goods Safety (Major Hazards Facilities) Regulations 2007 apply. Where referenced for other licences, the grace period is the three months.
"Pressing concerns" the latest installment of the Know Your Hazards video series is now available.
Launched at the 2016 Mines Safety Roadshow, the videos focus on the consequences of getting crushed, caught or trapped.

The department has a range of stakeholder engagement strategies, including:
- seeking industry comment on proposals or draft documents
- inviting participation in forums or working groups
- asking for feedback using surveys.
