The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety was notified of an incident in which a worker was seriously injured at an exploration site workshop 10km east of Leonora. The Royal Flying Doctor Service transported the worker to Royal Perth Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Inspectors of mines initially attended the incident however, due to circumstances relating to the event, have now handed the case to WorkSafe inspectors. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
The Department sends its sincere condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of the worker involved in this tragic incident.
