The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety has released this year’s Mining Rehabilitation Fund (MRF) yearly report on its website. The report demonstrates the activities and achievements of the MRF in the 2017-18 financial year.
The department has also published the assessment information received from Western Australia’s 19,000 tenements. This information, provided by tenement holders, is used to calculate the MRF levy payments.
Compliance with reporting requirements continues to be nearly universal and contributions received over the 2017-18 financial year brought the balance of the fund to $122.6 million. This amount includes $6.3 million in interest earned since 1 July 2014.
