The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) has released a suite of templates and supporting notes to assist petroleum title holders completing mandatory annual assessment reports (AAR).

Available online, the templates are optional and offer guidance about the information title holders should provide to the department to meet the statutory requirements for AARs, as outlined in the Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Resources (Resource Management and Administration) Regulations 2015 and/or the Petroleum (Submerged Lands)(Resource Management and Administration) Regulations 2015.

Resource and Environmental Compliance Division Executive Director, Karen Caple, said the documents have been released taking into account stakeholder feedback and will help title holders to complete their reports in a more consistent format.

“The AAR reporting process will be made easier for petroleum title holders and we hope that the department’s compliance check will also become more efficient as a result of a more consistent reporting approach,” she said.

Ms Caple thanked all the respondents for providing their feedback during the consultation period and a copy of the response to submissions is now available on the DMIRS website.
