New look for approvals reporting

Dashboards offer snapshot of approvals data
Date: Wednesday, 22 May 2019

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) has changed the way approvals reporting is being presented with data now being shown in dashboard graphics and spatial mapping.

The DMIRS Approval Reporting - WA Resource Sector Applications March Quarter 2019 has been compiled using the new format.

Senior Advisor Graham Cobby said the formatting change makes it easier to view the department’s approval performance and application trend information. The addition of spatial mapping provides a broader view of mining and petroleum activity within the State.

“Spatial heat maps can now show the location and density of selected mining and petroleum applications across the State during the report period,” he said.

“Dashboard graphics provide a concise breakdown of the average number of business days taken to grant exploration licences by DMIRS, the proponent and other agencies.

“In this quarter, 86 per cent of exploration licence applications were finalised within the DMIRS target of 65 business days.”
