The first online audit of a dangerous goods site inspection has been carried out by Dangerous Goods officers from the Department of Mines and Petroleum.

Dangerous Goods officers Erin James, Lawry Lim and Peter Xanthis audited a Scarborough service station using DMP’s Safety Regulation System (SRS) last month.

Miss James said the audit was completed onsite using a tablet computer running SRS.

“We found that by carrying out the audit online we were able to significantly increase efficiency and provide immediate notification to the business,” Miss James said.

“The system also allows companies to respond to notices and attach evidence of compliance, such as photos, online.

“This means data around our audits is more readily accessible, and easier to manage and analyse.”

Miss James said as well as creating benefits for the department, it also created efficiencies for companies.

“It provides a level of integration for users only possible in an online system,” she said.
