Safety focus for Mining After Dark

A new radio show on regional station RED FM will feature safety segments sponsored by the Department of Mines and Petroleum.
Date: Wednesday, 08 June 2016

The Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) has thrown its support behind regional radio station RED FM's Mining After Dark program promoting safety segments targeting workers in Western Australia’s resources sector.

The segments which start this week are sponsored by the DMP and will provide important safety reminders throughout the three-hour program.

Mines Safety Director and State Mining Engineer Andrew Chaplyn said RED FM's availability across many Western Australian mine sites provided a unique opportunity to get important safety information to workers.

"The partnership with RED FM allows the department to highlight topical safety issues directly with workers in the industry," Mr Chaplyn said.

"The segments complement safety information available on our website, through our safety inspectors, and the workshops and forums currently organised by the department."

If you have any suggestions for a safety segment, contact the department's Resources Safety Division at RSDComms@dmp.wa.gov.au

Mining After Dark runs from 1am to 4am weeknights on RED FM.
