Date: Friday, 06 November 2020

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety’s (DMIRS) latest approvals performance shows the department met all of its key approval processes within target timelines.

Notable results included finalising 100 per cent of mine safety Project Management Plans and Radiation Management Plans, 99 per cent of mineral exploration licence applications and 98 per cent of prospecting licences within their respective target timeframes.

DMIRS Director General David Smith said the September quarter results support the State Government’s continued efforts to boost the resources sector’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The exploration performance is particularly pleasing as exploration drilling activities are the bedrock of a sustainable resources industry,” Mr Smith said.

“To see the department maintain its high standards across the approvals process is a great achievement and a credit to the teams involved.”
