Notifications regarding new mining tenement applications have been available since 2011 within the DMP Website. The department has now expanded this service to provide notifications with respect to the lodgement and finalisation of Surrenders and Withdrawals.
This service includes the provision of an RSS Feed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS) that can be used from desktop and mobile devices to provide notification of this information. (refer to RSS Feed help)
Application Advertising
The requirement for mining tenement applicants to arrange the advertising of their applications in a newspaper has been replaced with the Department being responsible for advertising application details on the Departmental website. The Mining Regulations (No. 4) 2012 were published in the Government Gazette on Friday 9 November 2012.
There are a number of immediate positives to this initiative over the previous paper based advertising process such as;
- Worldwide notification
- Once the application has been processed and completed advertising is immediate. This is in line with the current availability of tenement information via Mineral Titles on-line
- Removes the requirement for the applicant to provide proof of advertising to the Department.
- Provides an archive of applications that can be queried
- More efficient processing of applications
- Integration with existing and new business processes such as eLodgement.
- Provision of dynamic updates to users of mobile devices through an RSS feed.
Surrender and Withdrawal Notifications
During March, 2015, "Pending" entries for Surrenders and Withdrawals were removed from the Mineral Titles Online (MTOL) register page (they were available in official title searches). This action was done as part of an initiative to ensure equitable access to title data that could indicate ground availability and was an initiative which also included the provision of free overnight downloads of tenement data.
From the 12 June, 2015, these entries were reinstated to the register but with the difference that they were released for viewing at 4.30pm on a business day following their lodgement or finalisation. This coincided with simultaneous access to this data via an RSS Feed (link to RSS Feed section).
In addition to appearing in the MTOL register (post 4.30pm), entries for Surrenders and Withdrawals will now appear in the free "overnight" digital download service offered through MTOL. As has always been the case, "Pending" entries for Surrenders and Withdrawals will appear in the official title search as and when they have been lodged.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The notification of the lodgement of a Surrender or Withdrawal document does not imply that the document will be subsequently Registered (made effective). You should also be aware that instruments such as Caveats, amongst other things, could have an impact on the effective time that the ground becomes available (Refer to The Mining Act, 1978 and Regulations).
When the application advertising web page first displays it shows all applications that have been made in the previous 14 days (default). A user can change the search criteria to 'filter' what applications should be displayed .
The page can be printed and 'landscape' orientation should be selected. A timestamp of when the query was run is shown at the bottom of the page, below the record selection navigation.
The Mining Notices (incl. Tenement Application Advertising) also includes the provision of an RSS feed <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS> that can be used from desktop and mobile devices to provide immediate notification of Tenement applications. If you select the RSS feed icon shown on the RHS of the application advertising page the feed will be displayed to you in the browser based format.
The feed can be incorporated into RSS capable software by adding the link <https://emits.dmp.wa.gov.au/emits/advert/rss.xml> for Tenement Application Advertising and <https://emits.dmp.wa.gov.au/emits/advert/generalNotificationsRss.xml> for Surrender and Withdrawal Notifications.
