The Rehabilitation Liability Estimate (RLE) Calculator is available to conduct 'what if' analysis on a range of disturbance and rehabilitation activities within the area of a mining authorisation.
The sum of all RLE values is multiplied by the Fund Contribution Rate (FCR), currently 1%, to calculate the mining rehabilitation levy payment by a tenement holder in a given Mining Rehabilitation Fund reporting year. No levy is payable on a tenement if the RLE is less than or equal to $50,000.
- In the Add New Activity section, select a Mine Activity Type and click Add New Activity.
- If required, continue to select additional Mine Activity Types and click Add New Activity after each selection.
- In the Activity List section, record total hectares disturbance and land under rehabilitation against each Mine Activity Type. Hectares must be between 2 to 4 decimal places.
The RLE for each Mine Activity Type, Total RLE and Estimated Levy will update automatically.
Land under rehabilitation figures are not required for Mine Activity Types:
- Exploration / Prospecting Operations - Land (other than land under rehabilitation or rehabilitated land) that has been disturbed by exploration operations.
- Other Cleared Land - Land (other than land under rehabilitation or rehabilitated land) that is cleared of vegetation and is not otherwise described in this Table.
The Mine Activity Type 'Land under rehabilitation (other than land that has been disturbed by exploration operations)' does not appear in the list of selectable Mine Activity Types. This relates to the reduced rate for land under rehabilitation shown in the Activity List table above.
