More than 40 nominations have been received overall for the Golden Gecko, Safety and Health and Community Partnership awards recognising innovation and excellence in the resources sector.
The departments Executive Director of Resources Safety, Simon Ridge was encouraged by the number of Safety and Health Award submissions.
“As the first year DMP has run these awards we are really pleased to have received so many nominations,” Mr Ridge said.
“The people working in safety and health across the resources sector are the eyes and ears of the workplace and the most important people on site.
“Being able to recognise the innovative solutions to problems that may exist across the industry – processes, systems and equipment that we will eventually wonder how we ever lived without – is an important part of continually improving health and safety in the resources sector.”
After each submission has been reviewed for eligibility the judging process will begin in May, with the winners announced at the Awards for Excellence Ceremony on Thursday 26 October 2017.
