Following a series of workshops on the 2016 Mining Proposal Guidelines held earlier this year, the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) has released additional draft guidance for stakeholders on risk assessments and environmental outcomes.
The draft guidance notes, which are based on feedback from the workshops as well as departmental feedback from the first assessments under the 2016 Guideline for Mining Proposals in WA - April 2016, will be available for public comment for eight weeks.
DMIRS Acting Executive Director Environment, Karen Caple said the workshops were instrumental in enabling the department to share tangible Mining Proposal examples with industry professionals and DMIRS Environmental Officers.
“Our aim was to increase industry’s level of understanding of the new risk and outcome based framework and through effective stakeholder engagement we have been able to produce more informed, practical help for our clients.
“Stakeholder feedback is invaluable and we are encouraging stakeholders to submit all their comments,” said Ms Caple.
Please visit the Consultation page to download the drafts and comments should be submitted using the feedback form by 9th November 2017.
