The December edition of the Department of Mines and Petroleum’s (DMP) Environment eNewsletter is now available.
This quarter’s newsletter highlights a new guideline for the petroleum and geothermal industry and an update on the release of the 2016 Guideline for the Development of Petroleum and Geothermal Environment Plans in Western Australia.
There is a roundup of the prestigious Golden Gecko Awards for Environmental Excellence that this year celebrated its 25th anniversary and awarded two winners at the ceremony in October. APA Group and Kingfisher Environmental Consulting were recognised for a program that monitored the Sandhill Dunnart, an endangered small marsupial and Strike Drilling Pty Ltd were awarded a Golden Gecko for developing a drill rig that significantly reduced environmental impacts.
In addition, this issue of the eNewsletter seeks stakeholder feedback on a draft Partnership Guideline developed to support DMP’s Abandoned Mines Program (AMP). The draft guideline follows on from the release of the Abandoned Mines Policy in January this year and supports one of the Policy's key principles - to encourage partnerships with government bodies, community groups and businesses.
Finally, further updates on the AMP, the Mining Rehabilitation Fund (MRF), the Mining Proposal reform and the Programme of Work spatial lodgements are also available.
To stay up to date on all DMP’s environmental news as well as upcoming events and achievements subscribe now to the eNewsletter.
Current and past editions of the Environment eNewsletter are available on the department’s website.
