Details on how to enrol for Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) database training is available from the latest edition of the GSWA eNewsletter.

Details on how to enrol for Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) database training is available from the latest edition of the Department of Mines and Petroleum’s (DMP) GSWA eNewsletter.

The interactive presentation includes advice on how to navigate the DMP website, search for geoscience publications and locating digital datasets using the Data and Software Centre.

Attendees can also learn how to find open-file WAMEX mineral exploration reports, mineral deposit information, and search for mineral drillholes and geochemistry information using GeoVIEW.WA.

GeoVIEW.WA is the award-winning interactive map viewer available on DMP’s website.

Using DMP or their own GIS datasets, participants can also receive an introduction to GeoMap.WA, a standalone GIS viewer for Windows available for free download from DMP’s website.

A hands-on demonstration of the MRT software for submitting drilling and sampling data in the correct format to DMP is also available on request.

The monthly GSWA eNewsletter has links to apply for Round 10 of the Exploration Incentive Scheme’s (EIS) Co-funded Drilling Program for drilling projects to be undertaken in 2015.

There are also details on how to purchase the complete raw dataset for the deep crustal seismic profile across the Canning Basin following a collaborative project between GSWA and Geoscience Australia (GA) undertaken earlier this year.

The data will assist in identifying areas of petroleum, minerals and geosequestration potential.

Additionally, links are provided to download maps, reports and digital information free of charge from DMP’s website.

The September edition of the GSWA eNewsletter is now available and accessible via www.dmp.wa.gov.au/subscribe, along with the full range of other DMP online subscriptions.

These include RSS feeds and news alerts covering areas such as Resources Safety, unconventional gas and approvals performance reports.

DMP’s online subscriptions provide valuable information about Western Australia’s mining and petroleum industry and provide access to DMP information as it is released.
