Companies and individuals can now compile mineral exploration reports online.
An innovative new online system developed in response to industry requests is now available for the submission of mineral exploration reports.
The mineral exploration reporting system was demonstrated and officially launched at the Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) Open Day on Friday, 27 February.
It allows companies and individuals to compile mineral exploration reports online using a wizard.
Each section has an information box and there are tool tips plus a short video of the process to help users.
The report can be compiled and saved over several sessions but not submitted to the Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) until it is ready to send.
It is important for companies and individuals to become familiar with the new
system because although its use will be voluntary until mid-2016, it will then become mandatory as part of DMP’s move to complete electronic submission of documents.
It has a number of advantages including its ability to guide the user through mandatory reporting requirements, automatically acknowledge receipt of the report, provide a copy in PDF format to the company, and store the report in the GSWA Western Australian Mineral Exploration Index (WAMIX) database.
Guidelines for mineral exploration reports on mining tenements have been updated for the new reporting system.
An external login is needed to access the new system and this can be obtained through the Manage My Account page on the DMP website.
Information sessions on the new online system will be held from 2-4pm on Wednesday, 11 March at the DMP Kalgoorlie Regional Office on the corner of Hunter and Broadwood Streets, West Kalgoorlie, and from 2-4pm on Monday, 16 March and Thursday, 19 March in the Mineral House Theatrette at DMP’s Perth offices at 100 Plain Street, East Perth.
