Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders interested in a career at DMP should attend the 2015 AES Open Day
The Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) continues to build on its commitment to Aboriginal employment in 2015.
As part of the department’s Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES), there will be a number of employment opportunities targeted at Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders throughout the year.
In 2012, the department launched its reconciliation action plan which included key goals around employment.
DMP Director General Richard Sellers said the plan was built around a vision of creating positive, meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
“A key part of that relationship is about ensuring employment and training opportunities at the department,” Mr Sellers said.
“This is why our agency is committed to increasing the representation of Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders in our workforce.”
As a part of this commitment, the department will be holding an AES Open Day on Friday, 6 March.
“The AES Open Day is an opportunity for interested applicants to gain an insight into the department’s role within Western Australia,” Mr Sellers said.
“It also provides an opportunity to hear from current Aboriginal employees on their experiences and journey within DMP.”
The day will include sessions on resume and interview techniques for government positions.
One on one resume reviews and coaching will also be available.
More information on the AES Open Day can be found on the department’s website.
The latest job offers can be found in the Aboriginal Employment section of the department’s website.
