Input sought on Reforming Environmental Regulation projects

The Department of Mines and Petroleum is hosting a briefing session on Tuesday 7 October to provide information and seek comment on a number of environmental reforms.
Industry will have the opportunity to comment on proposed environmental reforms through a briefing session to be held by the Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP).
The Department will be seeking comment and input on the status of various Reforming Environmental Regulation (RER) projects through an industry briefing session on Tuesday 7 October.
Director of Operations of the DMP’s Environment Division, Steve Tantala, said projects for discussion will include reforms to Mining proposals, Mine Closure Plan Guidelines and future developments in online lodgement.
“This is a vital event for industry to attend if they wish to gain an early opportunity for knowledge and to influence the outcomes of certain reforms,” he said.
“A series of question and answer sessions will give stakeholders opportunity to contribute and provide feedback on the status of the various reforms.”
The event will commence with an overview of the RER strategy, followed by presentations from DMP environmental experts detailing information on specific reforms.
RER is a State Government initiative aimed at implementing the principles of best practice regulation of the resources sector to ensure environmental integrity is maintained.
The briefing session will be held on Tuesday, 7 October 2014 at HBF Stadium Lecture Theatre between 8.30am and 1.00pm.
