The below information provides a description of activities which Western Australia (WA) Fireworks contractor licence holders are permitted to perform. If you are a WA licensee visiting another state under JobPass, you are only allowed to perform the activities listed below.

Scope of work
Can:
- manufacture fireworks subject to conditions
- purchase fireworks
- store limited quantities of fireworks
- possess fireworks
- transport not more than Category 2 loads of fireworks
- use fireworks.
Can apply for a fireworks event permit.
Must hold a fireworks operator licence.
Specific activities
Depending on the conditions of their Fireworks Operator licence:

Compliance requirements in WA
To get a WA licence
- Must hold a current fireworks operator licence and therefore a dangerous goods security card or equivalent security clearance
- Must have developed an explosives management plan
- Must hold public liability insurance in the amount of $5 million
- Must pay an application fee
To keep a WA licence
- Must renew the licence every five years
- Must maintain competency to undertake activities
- Must comply with Dangerous Goods Safety Act 2004 and Dangerous Goods Safety (Explosives) Regulations 2007
