More than 250 delegates attended the GSWA Open Day on Friday 17 November, the highest attendance in the event’s 25-year history.
Delegates were a diverse group of geoscientists, energy experts, researchers, industry professionals, and enthusiasts.
Expert-led presentations provided insights into the latest geoscientific research from Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) and its research partners, including CSIRO Mineral Resources and the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation.
GSWA staff provided updates on some of their flagship projects such as the Exploration Incentive Scheme, WA Array, the Geoscience Data Transformation Program, and collaborative drilling programs with MinEx CRC.
Presenters also highlighted exciting upcoming projects, such as the GSWA Industry Ready Graduate Program and Co-funded Geophysics Program launching in 2024, the use of AI in geoscience and how GSWA are creating reliable data to support the State’s green energy future.
GSWA Open Day strongly reflects GSWA’s key priorities in providing high-quality geoscience information to industry, and encouraging innovation and collaboration. Delegates took the opportunity to foster connections and experience the future of exploration through interactive displays, including MinEx CRC’s RoXplorer® Digital Twin immersive VR experience.
GSWA Open Day continues to be one of Western Australia’s premier geoscientific events. Record attendance numbers and the level of engagement from geoscientific experts reflects the growing interest in the direction of GSWA and the State.
