When significant engineered structures, such as tailings storage facilities (TSFs) are approved by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS), they are generally subject to a range of additional geotechnical tenement conditions.
Tenement holders must submit geotechnical reports to the department in accordance with the timeframe specified by their tenement conditions. These reports could be a once-off submission (such as a TSF construction report), or may be required to be submitted on a regular schedule (such as an annual TSF operational review report).
Submitting your report
Geotechnical reports submitted to comply with a tenement condition are to be lodged electronically via DMIRS Submissions. Please provide the tenement condition number/s that relate to the geotechnical report in the ‘Reference’ field. Read our guide on how to submit via DMIRS Submissions.
Geotechnical reports submitted to comply with a tenement condition should not be attached to site Annual Environmental Report/s.
Geotechnical reports in support of the approval of a new significant engineered structure (such as a TSF design report) must be submitted with the associated Mining Proposal/Mine Closure Plan and should not be submitted through the DMIRS Submissions system.
Tenement holders will receive a response letter from the department when the report has been reviewed.
