Who is responsible for the notification?

The person conducting an election for a safety and health representative must notify the State mining engineer of the results of the election. This is done by submitting the notification of election form no later than 7 days after the election date.

Refer to s. 56 of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994

The person conducting an election must also notify the person elected as a safety and health representative and the employer.

Lodging the notification

Submission of the notification is via SRS and can only be done by site administrators or users with the Notifications – Position security role. Process is as follows:

  • locate the Notifications subsystem on the SRS Home Page
  • click on Continue
  • on the Summary page click on the Appointments tab
  • under the Appointments tab click on the New button
  • on the lodgment page follow the screen prompts to select the area of notification (Mining or Exploration) and the type of notification (“Election of Safety and Health Representatives”)
  • click on Continue
