EPA clarifies regulatory framework around hydraulic fracturing

An Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) bulletin released on 17 December 2014 clarifies the regulatory framework and potential environmental impacts of hydraulic fracturing activities.

The Environmental Protection Bulletin replaces advice issued by the EPA in 2011 and reflects how the regulation around the industry has evolved over recent years. The bulletin can be viewed below or accessed from the EPA website.

WA Newspapers rules anti-gas advertising as misleading

West Australian Newspapers (WAN) Ltd handed down a ruling on September 19 that the full-page advertising relating to hydraulic fracturing, commonly called fracking, was misleading.

The decision was related to an advertisement published in the Geraldton Guardian (11 July 2014).

Final Report of the Independent Review of Coal Seam Gas Activities in NSW

The final report of the independent review of coal seam gas activities in NSW (the Review) undertaken by the New South Wales Government Chief Scientist and Engineer Mary O’Kane. The review was commissioned on 21 February 2013 by the former Premier, in a climate of community unease about CSG extraction.
