DMP is running two additional workshops in Kalgoorlie in March to share the key aspects of the new Guideline for Mining Proposals and to workshop key issues with small miners/prospectors

The Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) released the new Guideline for Mining Proposals in April 2016. The new guideline introduces a risk and outcome based regulatory framework for Mining Proposals and became compulsory for all new projects on the 1 January 2017.
Due to the high levels of interest, DMP will hold an additional Stakeholder Forum in Kalgoorlie on 28 March 2017 to discuss and workshop the key aspects of the new guideline. The February and March dates previously advertised for Perth are fully booked.
The aim of the Stakeholder Forums will be to provide additional information and examples of risk assessments and environmental outcomes, share learnings from the first assessments undertaken, and to facilitate a two-way conversation regarding how DMP will undertake assessments. Further information on the new Guideline is available on the DMP website.
In response to stakeholder feedback, DMP will also hold an additional afternoon forum aimed at prospectors and 'small miners' to discuss the current processes for environmental approvals and areas for potential improvements.
Detailed agendas for both workshops will be distributed prior to the events.
