DEMIRS responds to Resources Online feedback

Department to refine new digital solution following industry testing
Date: Friday, 13 September 2024

The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) has been working closely with stakeholders to ensure Resources Online, the department’s new digital solution to improve the efficiency of environmental applications, meets industry needs.

In addition to an industry-wide survey and the establishment of an industry working group, the department recently hosted user acceptance testing (UAT) with participants from across the resources sector.

While the reaction following the testing has been positive, a technical issue will mean a delay in the system’s release.

DEMIRS Executive Director Resource and Environmental Compliance Tyler Sujdovic said that while the delay was unfortunate, the department was committed to launching a system that delivers best-practice outcomes for industry and the department.

“I would like to thank all stakeholders who have been involved in the process and the valuable feedback that has been provided to date,” said Mr Sujdovic.

“We believe it’s incredibly important the system meets industry expectations in the first instance, so we will invite industry participants back to test the system again in the coming weeks.

“As the remainder of the testing was a success, we hope we will be in a position to launch by the end of the year.”

Resources Online is a key deliverable of the department’s Fast Tracking Mining Approvals program, which aims to significantly expand and improve the digital capability of mining and petroleum environmental lodgments.
