The latest edition of the Environment eNewsletter is now available.
Read about the department’s annual Awards for Excellence night on Thursday 26 October 2017 which sees five entrants vying for the prestigious Golden Gecko Awards. The awards celebrate innovation and leadership in environmental management in the mining and petroleum industries and this year's entrants vary from exploration to rehabilitation projects. Tickets for the ceremony, which includes a cocktail function, are $60 and available online until Thursday 19 October 2017.
In this issue, there is a request for industry stakeholders to provide feedback on a draft Low Impact Mining Operations (LIMO) form which is being revised. DMIRS is proposing to replace the existing 'Mining Proposal for Small Operations’' and 'Mine Closure Plan for Small Operations' forms with a single combined form that aligns with the 'Guideline for Mining Proposals in Western Australia - April 2016'.
The Environment Division is also asking for feedback on a draft Environmental Risk Assessment Guidance Note and a draft Environmental Outcomes Guidance Note. These guidance notes have been developed following a series of Mining Proposal workshops earlier this year and all information about the consultation process can be found on the DMIRS website.
