More than 35 companies and community groups have nominated for this year’s Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety’s Resources Sector Awards for Excellence.
The department’s Acting Executive Director of Resource and Environmental Compliance, Karen Caple was pleased to see the number of award entries, particularly for the Golden Gecko Award.
“We continue to see the resources sector establishing innovative projects, processes and partnerships, which have in the past set a new standard for industry,” said Ms Caple.
“Constant improvement across the sector is one of the reasons why we aren’t just one of the top mining destinations in the world, we’re also among the most sought after service providers.
“Compliance is not enough for some companies and that’s what puts them on the map.”
After each submission has been reviewed for eligibility the judging process will begin in July, with the winners announced at the Awards for Excellence Ceremony on Thursday 25 October 2018.
