Truck drivers have an opportunity to receive free safety information, a drink and a snack courtesy of the Department of Mines and Petroleum and Main Roads.
The inaugural Stop and Chat about Safety will be held at the Apple Street road train assembly area in Upper Swan between 9am and 11am on Friday 4 December.
Manager of Dangerous Goods Iain Dainty said the event was a joint initiative between DMP and Main Roads to inform and educate truck drivers.
“The Stop and Chat about Safety is an opportunity for truck drivers to speak to safety experts from the department and Main Roads,” Mr Dainty said.
“Tyre safety experts will be offering free tyre safety checks and we will be offering free USB drives with detailed safety information.”
Mr Dainty said the initiative aimed to raise awareness about the safe transport of dangerous goods and transport safety issues in general.
“This is not a compliance operation, it is an opportunity for truck drivers to speak to us directly about safety issues,” he said.
