Community Partnership Award finalists sharing knowledge with industry

Selected finalists from the Community Partnership Awards will share their case studies at a free seminar on Thursday 26 October

Finalists for the Community Partnership Resources Sector Awards have been working hard to demonstrate that development can bring about positive change for communities.

With a focus on communities and resource sector companies working together to improve local community outcomes, five of the finalists will present a short case study on their partnership project at a free seminar on Thursday 26 October 2017, before the Awards for Excellence Ceremony.

The presentations will share the key aspects of the partnerships, how they were established, key learnings and the positive stories of the organisations who are delivering benefits over and above community expectations.

The five partnerships presenting are (in alphabetical order):

  • Industry Road Safety Alliance - Shires of Boddington, Collie and Harvey, RoadWise, Main Roads WA, Road Safety Commission, WA Police, Department of Transport and Synergy, and South 32 Worsley Alumina, Newmont Boddington Gold, Premier Coal
  • KCGM and KBULG Environmental and Sustainability Partnership - Kalgoorlie-Boulder Urban Landcare Group and Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines
  • Swan Alcoa Landcare Program - Perth NRM (on behalf of multiple community based landcare groups)  and Alcoa of Australia
  • The Graham (Polly) Farmer Foundation - Rio Tinto Partnership - The Graham (Polly) Farmer Foundation Inc. and Rio Tinto
  • The Wiluna Martu Ranger Program - Tarlka Matuwa Piarku Aboriginal Corporation and Northern Star Resources

Starting at 2.30pm, this seminar, along with concurrent seminars for the Golden Gecko and Safety and Health Resources Sector Award, will be held at the Parmelia Hilton Hotel, Perth.

The Community Partnership Resources Sector Award helps build the reputation of Western Australian resources and extractive industry organisations that are working closely with communities to understand local concerns and issues, provide positive outcomes, all culminating in a positive legacy that extends well beyond gaining a social licence to operate.
