DMP has two contracts with WADEs

The Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) has been recognised by Western Australian Disability Enterprises (WADE) for its efforts to provide employment to people with disabilities.
WADE presented DMP with a Certificate of Appreciation at their annual celebration event on Wednesday 30 September.
DMP General Manager Facilities Services Joe Kaciuba said the department now has two contracts with WADEs after awarding the cleaning contract for its Mineral House head office in East Perth to disability service provider Intework.
The department already contracted WADE business Workpower to maintain the gardens at Mineral House and the department’s Carlisle office.
“DMP is committed to providing meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities,” Mr Kaciuba said.
“Changes to State Government tendering processes in 2010 made the process of awarding WADE contracts much easier and DMP has been proactive about considering WADEs as opportunities arise.”
DMP is one of 27 State Government agencies using registered WADE providers.
WADE service providers employ people with significant disabilities who are assisted with their work by support workers.
Mineral House’s new cleaning contractors commenced their contract on 1 September 2015.
The department has been using gardening contractors Workpower since August 2013.
Mr Kaciuba said the expiration of the previous cleaning contract also allowed the department to expand the range of environmentally friendly cleaning products being used.
“Intework cleaners are using new products to the Australian market by InnuScience,” Mr Kaciuba said.
InnuScience has a strong environmental ethos and their products are all free of volatile organic compounds, which helps to improve indoor air quality.
The environmentally friendly cleaning products are readily biodegradable and aren’t hazardous to aquatic organisms.
