The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety is seeking comment from industry on an excess tonnage guideline.
The enhanced guideline, which has been available on the department’s website since December, is intended to provide clearer direction on the information required from prospecting and exploration licence holders submitting excess tonnage applications.
“In particular, the document provides increased clarity and guidance on the types of evidence of native title consent required for an excess tonnage application.” DMIRS Resource and Environmental Compliance Executive Director Karen Caple said.
“The draft has also been updated to articulate the inclusion of the extraction of fluid or mineral bearing substances relevant to the potash and salt minerals in brine operations in excess tonnage considerations.”
The consultation period closes on Friday 29 January 2021 and, following a review of all the submissions, the department will finalise content and advise stakeholders.
Any queries or feedback should be sent to REC.Consultation@dmirs.wa.gov.au.
