The newly released Unearthing Western Australia Strategy 2030 outlines the long-term strategic priorities of the Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA).
Part of the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety’s (DMIRS) Resource and Environmental Regulation Group, GSWA is a trusted, world-leading geological survey. It provides objective and authoritative geoscientific data, information and knowledge to support the responsible use of the State’s natural resources.
DMIRS Executive Director Geological Survey and Resource Strategy Jeff Haworth said the strategic priorities of GSWA are divided into the four main areas of garnering geoscientific knowledge, transforming our data, strengthening our team and providing trusted information.
“The resources industry in WA has continued to operate successfully in what has been a challenging year for all of us, and this strategy outlines how GSWA will continue to support the sector,” he said.
“GSWA is proud to provide high-quality geoscience information, advice and services to support evidence-based decisions for creating a strong economy, a resilient society and a safe and sustainable environment.
“Western Australia will be a major potential source of critical minerals as the world moves towards a highly technical, environmentally aware and low-carbon economy in the decade ahead, requiring an increasing range and quantity of raw materials.”
