The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety is reminding workers in agriculture to put safety first when working with and around dangerous goods ahead of the Mingenew Midwest Expo and Newdegate Machinery Field Days.
The department will have Dangerous Goods officers in Mingenew in August and Newdegate in September for the events.
Dangerous Goods Team Leader Erin James said the department has partnered with AgSafe to participate in these important agricultural events.
"Most farms use some form of dangerous goods, either to operate machinery or to control weeds or pests," Miss James said.
"So these events are a good opportunity for Dangerous Goods officers from the department to connect with the Western Australian farming community and provide information and guidance.
"This year we will be focussing on rural transport and storage requirements for dangerous goods.
"We will also be in the area visiting agricultural supply stores to discuss safe transport from shop to farm."
The department features information about the safe storage and handling of dangerous goods on farms on its website.
The Mingenew Midwest Expo starts on 16 August and the Newdegate Machinery Field Days starts on 6 September.
