An updated list of Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) mining tenement fees and charges is now available, with fees effective from 1 July 2019.
DMIRS Executive Director Resource Tenure Rick Rogerson said fee increases for 2019-20 reflect the costs involved in processing documents such as permits.
“Overall there has been a minimal increase for most Mining Act fees and charges, some fees relating to registration dealings have been removed and new reduced charges relating to minerals in brine have been incorporated,” he said.
“The price of a Mining Act 1978 Section 40E permit will increase from $25 to $90 as of 1 July 2019. This fee has not changed for more than 15 years while the costs involved in processing permit applications have steadily increased over the years. The new price accurately reflects these operational costs.”
The Mining Act fees and charges can be paid at the Customer Service Counter in Perth and regionally at any mining registrars office by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFTPOS) or credit card.
Or use the department's Mineral Titles Online system to order and pay for official tenement searches and data extracts, pay mining tenement rentals and lodge various Mining Act forms.
DMIRS can accept Visa and Mastercard payments but a credit card limit of $99,999 applies per transaction.
If the transaction limit of $99,999 is exceeded then the transaction will be rejected. This is important to note because applications such as Exploration Licences secure priority in time by satisfying the initial requirements of the legislation, including payment of fees.
