Information sessions on proposed changes to Western Australia's Work Health and Safety laws start in July.

A series of information sessions on proposed changes to Western Australia's Work Health and Safety laws will be held in Perth and regional Western Australia, starting next month.
The proposed changes are part of the development of a single harmonised and amalgamated Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act.
The new WHS laws will cover all workplaces in Western Australia including mines, petroleum and general workplaces, with specific regulations for each industry sector based on national model WHS laws.
As part of the development of these new laws, a Ministerial Advisory Panel has provided recommendations to Minister for Mines and Petroleum; Commerce and Industrial Relations Bill Johnston.
A report detailing these recommendations will be released to the public shortly which will coincide with a public comment period and the information sessions.
These sessions will provide an overview of the proposals for adopting the WHS Act in Western Australia, developed by the Ministerial Advisory Panel. It will also outline how to provide feedback on the proposals or on any other aspect of the model WHS Act.
The public consultation period closes on 31 August 2018.
