Latest SRS upgrade means notifications of statutory appointments can be submitted online

The mining industry can now electronically submit notifications of statutory appointments following the latest upgrade to the Safety Regulation System (SRS).
To accompany the latest SRS release, the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety have developed a series of video tutorials as well as a frequently asked questions webpage.
The tutorials cover appointment of an existing person by a principal employer; appointment of a new person by a registered manager; and maintenance of statutory appointments.
Resources Safety Executive Director Simon Ridge said the latest upgrades were part of the department's commitment to enhancing its online systems.
"We are committed to providing improved regulatory services by increasing efficiency through data streamlining and online management," Mr Ridge said.
Under the Mines Safety and Inspection legislation, some statutory appointments, such as registered managers, require that the district or senior inspector be notified of the appointment.
Other statutory appointments, such as electrical supervisors, can be advised to the department and all statutory appointments must be recorded in the mines record book.
Mr Ridge said the new SRS functionality will make it easier to notify the department of statutory appointments.
"It also allows industry to more easily manage and update multiple statutory appointments and generate appointment letters," he said.
