Wide ranging agenda for two-day conference in Perth for staff from as far and wide as Broome, Karratha, Marble Bar and Mount Magnet.

Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) officers from around Western Australia have converged on Perth for a two-day conference.
A busy agenda has been arranged for this year’s Mineral Titles Regional Officers’ conference being held today and tomorrow in the theatrette in the department’s Mineral House in East Perth.
“The aim of the conference is to ensure all of our regional people are up to date with systems training, to share common problems and discuss strategies for dealing with them,” DMP Mineral Titles Executive Director Dr Ivor Roberts said.
“However, the conference also serves as a bonding event that makes our regional staff feel that they are part of a bigger family, particularly now as we all progress towards the challenges and opportunities of becoming a new department.”
In addition to Perth-based staff, the regional visitors include ten Mining Registrars and staff, three Liaison Officers and a Prospectors’ Facilitator, who come from as far and wide as Broome, Karratha, Marble Bar and Mount Magnet. They will all take part in a wide range of talks and briefing sessions that will include training on the TENGRAPH Web mapping system, updates on compliance and legislation and DMP’s transition to become the Department of Mining, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS).
“Mineral Titles is part of an enormous resources jurisdiction, second only in the world to the Sakha Republic in Russia,” Dr Roberts said.
