The popular annual event which showcases the latest geological information and major activities of the GSWA will be held on Friday, 22 February at the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle.
The Open Day will feature presentations on the latest results from GSWA’s geoscience programs, including collaborative research with Geoscience Australia, CSIRO, the Centre for Exploration Targeting, Curtin University, and other partner organisations.
“This is the premier event on Western Australia’s geological calendar,” Geological Survey and Resource Strategy Executive Director Jeff Haworth said.
“It provides the latest updates to geologists and companies in a relaxed setting that encourages questions, feedback and the chance to network.
“The Open Day is a tremendous way to increase the exploration industry’s understanding of the geology of various parts of the State and it encourages continuing exploration success through innovative targeting using new geoscience datasets funded through the Exploration Incentive Scheme.”
There will be 17 presentations by experts in the associated areas of geology and geoscience, covering a wide range of topics including ultrafine soils, microbialites and sulfur sources.
There will also be an extensive poster display and demonstrations of online systems to access data and information.
