2015 Graduates

Each department will run its own recruitment and selection process, to determine the most suitable graduate for each job. Please ensure you are aware of the individual requirements for each position in order to put your best foot forward.

Short-listing

All applications will be considered after the application period closes at the start of September. The panel will assess each application on its merit:

In order to be considered, please ensure your application contains the following:

  • A copy of your academic record and evidence of your Bachelor degree related to the role (completed in the current or preceding calendar year)
  • Your CV including the names and contact details of two referees.
  • A cover letter (maximum two - three pages) which tells us about you:
    • Why do you want to work for us?  What will you bring to the role?
    • How do our departmental values align with your personal values’? (Provide us with some examples that demonstrate this)
    • A project you are proud of, the role you played and the result (this may include a university project, work experience or volunteer work)

The graduate program is an equity and diversity employment initiative and therefore we are actively looking for recent university graduates from any of the following diversity groups to apply:

The most competitive applicants will be invited for interview.

Interviews

Applicants selected for interview will be contacted by telephone or email, so please ensure you provide up-to-date contact details.

During the formal interview (normally three panel members), you will be asked a number of questions and be provided with the opportunity to find out more information on the specific role.

You will also be asked to provide a copy of a project or assignment that reflects the graduate capabilities and departmental values.

 The panel will be assessing your responses against the following capabilities:

  • Proven ability to research, analyse and interpret information and report on findings.
  • Works collaboratively in a team and with stakeholders and; treats people with respect.
  • Able to write a range of documents and able to communicate clearly and effectively to various audiences.
  • Shows willingness to learn and develop expertise, responds to feedback and changes in requirements, to work towards agreed outcomes.
  • Acts with integrity and behaves in an honest, professional and ethical way.

 Other selection techniques, such as second round interviews or written questions, may also be used. If this is the case you will be informed when you are contacted to book in your interview.

Reference checks

After interviews, reference checks will be completed for the most competitive applicants.

Notification of outcome

Based on the above process, a decision will be made and the most suitable applicant offered the graduate position.

Successful applicants will receive offers of employment with a commencement date for employment in mid-January.

Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email and provided with the opportunity to receive feedback on their application.
