The Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) has adopted a second government goal of social and environmental responsibility in its revised strategic plan.
The strategic plan is part of the department’s planning framework and represents a three-year rolling plan of DMP's strategies across all business areas.
DMP is committed to reviewing the strategic plan annually to ensure that it continues to be forward looking, innovative and adaptive in its management of a responsible resources sector.
DMP has adopted a second government goal of ‘social and environmental responsibility’, to acknowledge the growing importance of these issues in relation to the resources sector.
This is in addition to its existing goal of financial and economic responsibility.
With increasing levels of community interest in resource projects, particularly in relation to environmental and land access issues, involving all our stakeholders is crucial when planning and developing policies and programs.
The strategic plan, titled ‘Our Plan for Success to 2019' is part of the department’s planning framework and represents a three-year rolling plan of DMP’s strategies across all business areas.
