Date: Tuesday, 02 June 2020

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) today published a new Environmental Applications Administrative Procedure that provides stakeholders with greater guidance and clarity through aggregating all processes for environmental applications into one document.

The Procedure provides information on the relevant legislative requirements and outlines the processes the department uses to screen, assess and progress each environmental application it receives.

The new document also explains how DMIRS may interact with other regulators and legislation to progress an environmental application, which includes seeking inter-agency advice, parallel processing opportunities and constraints on decision making.

The department has also published a summary of the feedback and responses to comments it received after the Procedure was released for public consultation in late 2019. DMIRS encourages interested stakeholders to engage with the department as early as possible before lodging their applications.

The review process notified respondents that their submissions would be made publicly available on the DMIRS website.
